FAQs
Good questions, answered plainly.
Everything first-time patients tend to ask — about needles, coverage and what to expect. Still unsure? Call us; we'd rather talk it through.
Acupuncture stimulates specific points under the skin with very thin, sterile needles. It is part of Traditional Chinese Medicine and is used to relieve the symptoms of many health issues — from back pain and headaches to sleep, stress and fertility.
The needles are very fine, so most people feel nothing on insertion. You may notice a brief dull ache, numbness or heaviness at a point — the sign it is working. Most people find the session deeply relaxing and many fall asleep.
Yes, when practised by registered providers with single-use needles. Mild reactions such as a small bruise or feeling drowsy afterwards can occur and pass quickly. Let us know about pregnancy, medication or bleeding disorders before treatment.
Yes — for injuries caused by an accident. You need an ACC claim number from your GP, chiropractor or physiotherapist. You don't need a specific referral for acupuncture, and you can combine it with other treatments such as chiropractic or physiotherapy under the same claim.
Our neighbours, Conifer Grove Physio & Pilates, can help lodge an ACC claim.

Check your policy for session limits and excesses.

It depends on the condition. Acute injuries often respond within a few visits; long-standing or chronic conditions usually need a course of treatment. We'll give you an honest estimate after your first session.
